After the updating of the laws concerning vehicle donations to charity, cars that are not running have been donated at a lower rate than was the case only some years ago, but even so, it doesn’t mean you have to keep that old car. It’s still possible to donate it to charity, albeit the tax deduction reward has been considerably reduced.

Normally, when you donate a vehicle that no longer runs, it will get towed away and sold, in essence, as a parts car. Though the majority of auto donations for autos in such a state are handled by a third-party (usually a for-profit company) agent as opposed to the charity itself, you are still able to get the old jalopy hauled away.

Nevertheless, you should know that that the deduction value which you can claim for a car sold on the wholesale market is considerably limited by the fractional amount it is likely to be sold for in addition to the overhead fees that are taken off the top by a third-party agent, the remaining value that is in fact given to the charity from the sale of the donated automobile is the extent of what may be written off under the new laws.

Ordinarily, the highest values for donated vehicles are obtained for cars and trucks that are still roadworthy, although some agencies will take some broken down cars and trucks for repair. If you can find an organization that has an ongoing mission of automotive training, even a non-working car has the possibility to be deducted at the higher “fair market value” in such cases.

Consequently, no matter how much it’s not running, such donated vehicles are still accepted by a numerous charities which accept automobile donations. Frequently, they will be bigger or national charities that don’t have a particular mission based on getting running cars to people. Unless there’s something especially cool or unique about your donated vehicle that would make it an ideal project car, you can presume that it will be sold for scrap or parts at a wholesale auction.

In spite of alterations to the law, there are still a lot of places that accept donated cars that are no longer running. The thing you have to consider is whether or not it has possibility of being fixed up for sale as a running vehicle.

So, you have a youngster who loves golf? Want to buy them a new set of junior golf clubs? It can be confusing. Read on for help in making a good decision.

Junior golf clubs usually come in complete sets, with a limited number of clubs and a lightweight bag. Junior golf sets for younger kids generally have just a wood, an iron or two, and a putter. That’s all they need at that level. Junior golf clubs for older juniors (8-12 years old) usually add a fairway wood and/or a hybrid iron, plus a couple more irons and a wedge.

Make sure you don’t overdo it on too many clubs. It is better for your child to learn to swing a few clubs well than to have to lug around a heavy set of clubs that he can’t use.

Most kids want clubs that look cool or that have a big brand name like the pros play. Parents are usually more concerned about the price of the clubs. You can spend a little on a great “value” junior golf set for your youngster, or spring for the name-brand junior sets for the child who shows some real promise. Either way, make sure your kids have the right equipment to make golfing fun.

Probably the most important thing you can do is to make sure you have clubs that properly fit your child. Don’t just rely on the age group that the clubs were made for. All children come in different sizes at different ages. A tall 8 year old may do better with a junior golf club set designed for 9-11 year olds, while a small 10 year old may play better golf with a junior golf set designed for 7-9 year olds. The child’s height is actually more important than the age.

Some parents wonder if the cheaper junior golf sets will perform as well or last as long. Performance is usually not as good with the cheaper clubs, as they are manufactured without some of the space-age metals and newer (and more expensive) golf club technologies. Better youth clubs like junior Callaway golf clubs are made with the same quality and technology as the adult clubs. But durability is an issue with all the sets since kinds can sometimes be a little rough on their clubs.

If you have a beginner golfer who is just testing out whether they have any interest in the game, a cheap set of junior golf clubs can be a great value. They still are ‘real clubs’ and look pretty cool. If they show an interest and some talent, you can always upgrade to a higher quality set of junior clubs in the future.

If your child is already showing promise and is playing in junior golf tournaments, the more expensive clubs have the kind of materials and technologies built in to them that will really help them improve their scoring and play better golf.

The most important thing for young golfers is that they have fun. Buying them their own set of junior clubs that fit them and their ability will make the game of golf much more fun than if they are playing with golf clubs that are too long or too heavy or with shafts that are too stiff. Your child may also develop bad habits in their golf swing with ill fitting clubs.

Start your junior golfer off on the right foot by getting them a new set of Junior golf clubs. The right size is the most important, after that, it’s all about how much you want to pay. But for the children who play golf, any new set of junior golf clubs is a treat!

I fell in love with American roots music while I was in college in the late 1960s. The irony of that is that I was born and grew up in the Washington, DC area and had to move to Minnesota to hear the blues for the first time!

I should say that it was in college that I first heard the blues played by the original artists. I’d been a big fan of the Rolling Stones and numerous other British Invasion groups who were all playing their versions of the blues, or derivatives thereof. I just had no idea at the time that they’d been so heavily influenced by a whole generation of musicians that I’d never heard of.

In the meantime, there were American musicians playing blues and blues-influenced rock to small, but devoted audiences. Three of my favorites (discovered for the most part years later) were Lonnie Mack, Albert Collins and Roy Buchanan. Lonnie Mack is best known for his radio hits, but is a killer blues player as I discovered much to my surprise when Alligator Records put out a video of a concert with Lonnie, Albert and Roy at Carnegie Hall in New York City from the early 1990s. The concert was called “Further On Down The Road” and was a real eye-opener for me when I first saw it. It’s still one of my favorite videos.

With the explosion of videos on the Internet, there is a wealth of blues video footage from the 1950s through today. It’s a blessing that so much still survives from the early days. Watching some of these legends perform helps make it clear just why they are legendary.

Arranging for accommodations is a very important part of planning any vacation. Most of us think of hotels and motels first, usually belonging to a major chain, and then give the matter of accommodations no more thought. However, Hawaii vacation condos are a very attractive alternative, and such a rental can make a wonderful vacation even more so.

With the options of villas, houses, or condos, rentals have more perks to make choosing one easier. With a Hawaii condo rental, there is the privacy and quietness that is often void in a hotel or motel. In a private condo you won’t worry about staff invading your privacy, which lends itself to a more secured and relaxed setting.

Eating out at every meal can easily become the most expensive part of a vacation. But when you have a Hawaii vacation rental, the kitchen is there for your own use. It’s more cost-effective and convenient to pour a bowl of cereal and brew a cup of Kona coffee in your bathrobe than it is to dress up and go out for breakfast. And best yet, you don’t have to worry about restaurant hours or tipping your server.

While some hotel rooms may have a small kitchen area, a vacation rental will usually have a full and well-equipped kitchen. You can relax in your rental by cooking your own meals and enjoying them at a dining table or on a private deck overlooking the ocean. Rentals are a great bargain when you can get so many luxurious amenities for the same price as staying in a hotel.

For long stays or visits of just a few days, Hawaii vacation rentals can be found. You can do a search on the internet or use a good travel agent to help find these properties with relative ease. You can also pick and choose locations. If, for example, a Kauai vacation rental comes with a great price or special offer, you might decide this is the island you want to visit!

The downside for some to a Hawaii vacation rental is that you will need to do a little work normally done for you in a hotel. A little cleaning and cooking and making your own beds may not be much of a problem when you compare the comfort of being in a real home instead of a commercial bedroom next to dozens more. The rental can be much more relaxing and peaceful and add to the whole vacation. If you think you’d miss room service, don’t forget you can order a pizza in Hawaii just like at home!

While gardening is usually thought of as a productive way to grow beautiful plants and obtain tasty fruits and vegetables, few gardeners have ever considered the immense amounts of exercise one can get in the process of gardening. While you can get almost as much muscle (if not more) exercise as you do working out, it is very productive at the same time.

You may wonder how gardening could possibly give as much exercise as working out. Just think about all the various facets of preparing a garden. There are holes to be dug, bags and pots to be carried, and weeds to be pulled. Doing all of these things help to work out almost every group of muscles in your body.

My brother is a fanatic about working out. Almost every time I call his house, I end up interrupting some muscle toning activity. I have never really enjoyed working out, though, as it seems that the constant lifting of heavy things just puts a strain on my body with no immediate positive results. But while he is into working out, I am almost equally enthusiastic about gardening. I work outside improving my garden almost every day. I think I definitely surprised my brother when he realized that I am almost as muscular as he is; but I have never lifted a single dumbbell!

Before you go out into your garden, you should always stretch out. Even if your goal is not to work out and get exercise, it is still a good idea. Often gardeners spend long periods of time hunched over or bent over. This can be bad for your back. So not only should you stretch out before hand, but you should always take frequent breaks if you are spending long amounts of time in these positions.

Weeding and pruning are some of the best workouts a gardener can get. With the constant crouching and standing, the legs get a great workout. If your weeds are particularly resistant, your arms will become particularly toned just from the effort required to remove them from the ground. If you plan on taking the whole workout think very seriously, you should always be switching arms and positions to spread out the work between different areas of your body.

One of the most obvious ways to get exercise is in the transporting and lifting of compost bags and pots. Between the nursery and your house, you will have to move the bags multiple times (to the checkout, to your car, to your garden, and then spreading them out accordingly). As long as you remember to lift with your legs and not your back, transporting bags and pots can give you a fairly big workout, even though you probably do not make those purchases very often.

Mowing your grass can also be a great exercise. If you have got an older mower that is not self propelled, just the act of pushing it through the grass will give you more of a workout than going to the gym for a few hours. During the course of mowing the grass, you use your chest, arms, back, and shoulder to keep the mower ahead of you. Your thighs and butt also get worked a lot to propel the mower. Not only do you get an all around muscle work out, but it can improve your hearts health. It is good for you as a cardiovascular activity, as well as a great way to lose weight due to the increased heart rate and heavy breathing.

If you plan on using gardening as a way to get in shape or lose some weight, you can hardly go wrong. Just be sure to stretch out, drink plenty of water, and apply sunscreen. As long as you take steps to prevent the few negative effects such as pulled muscles, dehydration and sunburn, I think you will have a great time and end up being a healthier person because of it.

If you have ever dreamed of writing a hit song, the first thing you should consider is entering a songwriting contest. That is perhaps the best way to get started in the music business.  When you are writing song lyrics and composing the music, you should meditate and let it come from within you.  If you were good at poetry in school, then you probably already have a natural ability to play off of for a songwriting contest.  This venue gives you some exposure to professional people in the music business.  If you have a good idea for a song, you should consider preparing it for a contest so you can let it be heard.

Some common mistakes novice songwriters make is trying to make their song sound like another song.  This is your song, and it should reflect your inner self.  If you have a cause you care about or you are into current events, those are great ways to brainstorm and come up with ideas for lyrics and music.  Depending on what type of personality you are, you may like to start with the lyrics, then add the music.  Other songwriters have a tune in their head that they add lyrics to later.  No matter which way you go, getting involved in a songwriting contest is the best way to get your voice heard about a cause or whatever moves you.

Some things you can do to improve your songwriting skills and have a better chance at winning in a songwriting competition are write about what you know, learn about what a verse, chorus and a bridge are and how you can best utilize them within your song, keep the title as short and catchy as you can (using a double meaning for your title and in the chorus is very catchy), keep your song at around 3 to 4 minutes and watch your grammar for mixing up your past, present and future tenses (this gets confusing to the listener).  Now, go have fun, practice some fun lyrics and be creative, then test out your song ideas and forms with family and friends.  After that, you will be ready to enter a songwriting contest where you can win money, prizes, recording contracts or a combination of products or services.  Life is a dance and people need a good song for dancing – why shouldn’t they dance to yours?

May 24th, 2009The Focus of SEO

When talking about search engine optimization it is best to start at the beginning. SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization and it is the fundamental building blocks of obtaining natural traffic.

If you do your homework, you would know that back in the day when Netscape ruled the land, search engines were terrible and finding appropriate content. In this day and age search engine marketing requires a different type of marketer, someone that is willing to uncover every rock and explore all the options.

SEO revolves around two main elements, on site work and off site work. When referring to onsite strategies they typically involve using your keywords in your URL’s, titles and content to tell google what your article or page is about. It makes the most sense to start from square one and discuss writing content.

Before you approach a new subject, start by using the Google Keyword Tool to make sure that what you intend to write about is in demand and people are searching for it… After you have figured out the level of traffic you would like to go after and the search term you are planning on targeting, make sure that the keyword term is placed in the article URL for easy Google crawling.

Personally, I like to be conservative and not incorporate my keywords more then once every 100 words and in addition, I like to bold the keywords to make them stand out…I don’t want to oversimplify so it would be appropriate to state that this is a very rudimentary way of explaining onsite SEO and in reality there are several more strategies you can do internally to increase your web traffic and visibility. In addition to onsite techniques, more importantly you will have to be good at networking and approaching people, its not called the “world wide web” for nothing…

It’s easier to exchange links when you’re site has authority and page rank but initially it can be very difficult getting respect if you don’t have any yet. It may be necessary to resort to purchasing links if you cant find anyone to trade with you at first. If you want to really start making money online you will have to become an expert at this… If you ever hear anyone discussing gibberish terms that refer to the make money online industry, things like search engine optimization, seo, sem, page rank, search engine marketing, they are trying to explain their internet marketing efforts i.e. what they are doing to get to the top of Google.

Many people don’t understand that beyond any other methods, you have to spend time or find shortcuts in regard to generating quality anchor text backlinks. It doesn’t matter if you want to be a seattle fashion photographer or an astronaut… Building links is the lifeblood of external SEO and if you are a popular or a manufacturer, getting attention is difficult and it needs to be done at a rate that is equal or greater to that of your competitors for the same keywords if you want to stay on top of the rankings… Once you get closer to the first page, things can get extremely difficult.}

Just to recap, the two ways to improve your results in the search engines are by mastering your content and producing it in a way that is friendly to the Google spiders and building an incredible number of links and content that inspires people to link to you freely.Be happy that you found this website and be forewarned that there are lots of phony baloney internet marketers out there that want you to pay them to teach you SEO i.e. search engine optimization. Save your money and spend time implementing through trial by error, it is truly the best way to learn and it wont cost you a penny!
